Alongside family businesses

A partner, when it matters most

A different model, built for how businesses actually work

Most family- and founder-led businesses in Argentina reach moments where the path forward isn’t obvious. A generation is stepping back. A company has outgrown the way it has always been run. An opportunity, or a decision, requires more than the owner alone can carry.

At these moments, the options on the table are often the wrong ones. Traditional investment firms ask owners to sell and step aside. Advisors deliver a plan and leave. Neither fits a business whose value is inseparable from the people who built it.

Nordis was built to fill this gap. We engage as partners, not advisors; working alongside owners and management, taking responsibility for outcomes, and structuring our involvement so that our success is tied to theirs. In some cases this leads to an investment. In others, to a long-term operating partnership. In other cases, to preparing the business for a transition on the owner’s terms.

Across every engagement, the approach is the same: discipline, patience, and real skin in the game.

Nordis at a Glance

  • What we do

    We engage as operating partners.

We work alongside owners and management teams to build lasting value; setting strategy, strengthening the organization, and executing the work that matters most. Our role is defined by what the business needs, not by a standard playbook. When the right moment comes, the same relationship can lead to an investment, a transition, or a continued partnership.

  • How we work

High conviction. Long horizons. Real alignment.

We engage with a small number of situations at a time, which allows for deep involvement and close collaboration. We prioritize trust, sound judgment, and long-term thinking over transactional outcomes, and we stay in the work as decisions translate into execution.

  • How we engage

Every business and every owner is different. So is every engagement.

We don’t come with a template. Some engagements begin with a focused assessment. Others take the form of a longer operating partnership, where we sit in the seat with management and share in the value we help create. In select cases, they lead to a full investment, structured on terms that fit both the business and its owners.

Who we partner with

Nordis works with a small number of family- and founder-led businesses at a time. Typically Argentine, closely held, first- or second-generation, with a strong identity and real long-term potential. We engage at moments that matter — generational transition, professionalization, preparation for a future transaction, or a strategic decision too consequential to carry alone.

Where we tend to engage

  • Packaged food, beverages, and other essential goods, where strong brands and efficient operations drive durable advantage, both in the domestic market and in exports.

  • Argentina’s strength as an agricultural producer creates opportunities across the chain: processing, logistics, specialty ingredients, and the infrastructure that connects producers to markets at home and abroad.

  • Niche industrial businesses where local know-how, raw material access, and supply chain integration create a real advantage; food production, packaging, and specialized industrial goods among them.

  • Fragmented, often undercapitalized service markets, outsourced industrial services, logistics, and B2B solutions, where professional management and scale can meaningfully change the economics.

  • A founder or generation stepping back, with the next generation ready to take the lead.

  • A business with no natural heir in the family, needing a partner to carry it forward and protect what was built.

  • A business that has outgrown its original structure and needs to upgrade how it runs.

  • Getting the business ready for a future sale, partnership, or capital raise.

Leadership

Nico Pflaum

Nordis Partners is led by Nico Pflaum. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Nico has spent over a decade working alongside family- and founder-led businesses as both an investor and an operator, in Argentina, across Latin America, and in the United States.

His work has centered on the practical side of building value: partnering with owners and management teams through moments of growth, transition, and transformation, and staying close to the operating work that turns strategy into results. He has led acquisitions, sat in the operating seat, and worked side-by-side with management teams on what actually changes how a business performs.

Nordis operates with a principal-led model, emphasizing focus, discretion, and direct involvement. The firm draws on a network of experienced executives, advisors, and long-term partners, engaged selectively based on each situation.
